Living things can multiply in an area if all the conditions for their life are present. The groundhogs had a great time at Liszt Ferenc International Airport.
The territory of an airport is not about peace anyway, but now that construction work has started, Liszt Ferenc International Airport has become increasingly dangerous for the otherwise protected ground squirrels.
Based on the surveys, it was established that a significant herd of ground squirrels lived their daily lives at the airport. They numbered several thousand. Before the renovation of the airport runways, the protection of small animals had to be started. This means that they were transported to a more distant and safer place after their capture.
A total of 42 ground squirrels were moved to their new, already prepared area. Employees of the Hermann Ottó Institute participated in the work.
