The fox that attacked the dog was rabid

Foxes are vaccinated every year, thanks to which rabies among foxes is not typical in this country, so our dogs are also more protected.

However, despite the precautions, it happens that some animals become infected. A rabid animal can even come from neighboring countries, which can then be a threat to humans and dogs.

The unlikely happened to a dog from Tiszabec. The infected fox that wandered into the area got into a fight with the dog that lives there and protects its territory. The carcass of the shot fox was examined in a laboratory and it was found that the strange behavior was caused by rabies.

This year, this is only the first certified rabid individual.
