Cloning can be a solution for species that are highly endangered.
This is why the choice fell on a black-legged ferret that had been extinct for at least 30 years. The genetic stock of the animal was copied and a copy was created by cloning. The little animal was born late last year, which owes its life to a domesticated female ferret.
The black-legged ferret is native to North America, but the species is in great danger. In vain they try to protect the herd, so only 500 wild specimens live in the wild in America.
The cloned female ferret was named Elizabeth Ann.
