84 years. Not a few in human life, but a real Methuselah in an alligator. Plus, what a story it has.

Saturn is a Mississippi alligator who nevertheless lived in Moscow after being born in America. But to make it not so boring, he moved to the Berlin Zoo. And it’s still not the adventurous part of his life. It is there that during the Second World War, the zoo was hit by an air raid, from which Saturn escaped. He lived for three winters before they found him and then the Soviet troops took him with him. That's how he got to Moscow.

The reptile was so accustomed to human proximity that it also tolerated — even loved — cleaning their skin with a brush.

We would think that the life of the zoo animals was calm and free from excitement, but Saturn was forced to live with the collapse of his terrarium, as well as the fact that a zoo visitor threw him a bottle.

Saturn had no successor during his long life. He mourned the female that perished while laying eggs.

A reptile that lived to the age of Methuselah would live in the wild for up to 55 years.
