Certain cultures have very different customs and this is also reflected in gastronomy.
In some areas of the Oriental culture, the dog is not as domestic or family-friendly as ours, but can serve as a base for the main course. Rather, they play the role of farm animals, which are kept to gain access to their meat later.
There was also an institution in Cambodia because it was literally set up as a slaughterhouse and was set up to process dog meat.
They were starving in their cages, waiting for their sad fate. The owner of the dog slaughterhouse contacted the animal protection organization to get something done with the dogs because he no longer wanted to do it.
This is how they became aware of the business and could save the lives of at least some dogs. There were stray and stolen animals amongst the dogs kept in the slaughterhouse, which the owner had resigned to exchange for one item.
Amazing but up to two thousand dogs a year were the slaughterhouse.
