The climate is changing, the weather can be weird, and the mosquito that makes our lives bitter in the summer can be more of a problem.
As the weather changes, new diseases that were previously unknown also appear. There was a time when heartworms were only seen on our U.S. pet shows. We didn't even know what it was.
We have known since then, because we have also developed a disease that is dangerous for animals, starting with a seemingly harmless mosquito bite that larvae get into the dog's body. Worms develop in the body of the host animal and parasitize them in the lungs and heart.
Heartworm was once unknown in Hungary, but today veterinarians diagnose infected dogs on a weekly basis.
