The epidemiological situation means not only a lack of visitors to the zoos, but also a loss of revenue.
Visitors even seem to miss visitors. However, news came from foreign zoos that the lack of people, the crowd, lured polar bears and giant pandas to mate. In the case of the latter, reproduction under artificial conditions is also more difficult, so zoo caretakers are very happy about this.
The Kruger National Park is not a zoo, yet it is visited by a large number of visitors interested in South African wildlife. Now, however, there is much more peace and quiet in that area as well. So much so that a staff member in the national park noticed a group of lions lying on a busy road anyway. They slept so peacefully right in the middle of the road, as if people were never on it.
The only problem (for the lions) is that this serenity doesn’t always stay that way.
