The spring break did not disturb the life of the zoo either, as the Debrecen Zoo is also closed due to the protection due to the corona virus. Yet life was great in the Tropical House because of the new occupants. The bird species, which is native to the northern and eastern coasts of Australia and to Asia, came to Debrecen with the offer of a private individual. The Chinese dwarf quail is the smallest of the hen-shaped with its body length of 10 to 12 centimeters and weight of 45 grams.
Due to its size, ie its smallness, this little bird prefers dense undergrowth, so at the ground level, in the bush, it collects food, which is mainly formed by leaves and insects.
The Chinese dwarf quail also stands its ground as an ornamental bird, and they like it. In the Hungarian zoos, apart from the Debrecen institution, only from the dwarf quails in the capital.
