The sick gorilla's appetite is back

The gorillas of the Nyíregyháza Zoo are well known to those who work there. It was also soon realized that something was wrong with the male specimen. As if he was having a harder time eating. The animal was observed for a few days, and since there was a constant difficulty in feeding, it was necessary to examine it.

After anesthesia, several professionals were involved in uncovering the cause of the problem, which was nothing more than a larger abscess at the root of the tongue that no longer affected not only nutrition but also respiration. They got rid of the contents of the abscess, cleaned its surroundings, and received antibiotic treatment from Djumha, the gorilla, who responded well to the treatment in the following days and his appetite returned. The clever primate was able to select the delicacies that lacked antibiotics with an incredible sense, so he gave up the lesson for caregivers and doctors on how to get the drug into the animal’s body.
