Carnival time begins in February. It will be worth spending the Sunday at the Zoo and Botanical Gardens of Budapest.
The first weekend of February will not only be a carnival at the Capital Zoo, but on Sunday we will also see if the teddy bear sees its shadow.
According to folk tradition, when a teddy bear leaves his cave and sees his shadow, he is frightened of it and returns to its place, meaning we can expect a long winter. Of course, this requires sunlight. And if the sun doesn't shine on Sunday, the teddy bear won't be scared, so he can stay out. In this case we can wait for spring.
So at the weekend the animals will play the lead, but there will also be a carnival. In addition, concerts, puppet shows, quizzes, games and shows are also open to visitors.
A kid who comes with a teddy bear or carnival costume costs only 200 Ft to enter the zoo.
