An animal species on the brink of extinction has become richer by one specimen

Zoo caretakers take care of the residents entrusted to them as if they were their own. The whole zoo wants to make the lives of the people there as good as possible.

In addition to providing the right conditions, the greatest confirmation from animals is that they provide the zoo with offspring. Many species are more difficult to reproduce in captivity.

The Nyíregyháza Zoo is now very proud, because a newcomer has arrived, which is also very rare in the wild.

The dwarf hippopotamus, which is on the verge of extinction, originally lives in West Africa, but has only about 2,000 individuals, which is very few. The joy is understandable, as this also shows that the breeding program, in which the Nyíregyháza institution also participates, is successful.

The male dwarf hippopotamus was named Gerzson because it was born on Gerzson's name day. He has since discovered his catwalk.
