A pandemic from China could now appear anywhere. We knew for a long time that animals couldn’t catch it. We've known that ever since.

Two kittens, also infected with the coronavirus, had previously been discovered in China and two have now been found in the US. It was the first time in the United States that the infection was discovered in cats.

The fact that animals have caught the coronavirus does not mean that they can be passed on to humans. On the other hand, it is certain that cats can catch the coronavirus. Cats that have been seen by a doctor because of difficulty breathing have been diagnosed with the disease, but veterinarians are confident of recovery.
