The voice eventually led the owners to the washing machine and the scared cat and perhaps even more frightened owner's eyes collided.

The program was stopped immediately, but some time still had to wait for the machine to be opened and the now-clean cat to be released.

Oscar survived the hot water adventure, suffered only minor injuries and can’t even be said to have learned from the case because he’s been happy to lie in the open plane ever since. Now the owners are much more careful.
