Beyond our borders, we know that they are nesting, and stopping by us is a miracle.
The swallow is endemic in some parts of Africa, the Middle East and southern Eurasia, not at all in Hungary. They choose a rock wall and a ledge as their nesting place. Hungary is not the area where they would nest, and in Szentendre it is probable that they saw two specimens only because the southern winds swept the rare birds.
No wonder we saw a stir among those who love the bird world, but we also know that they just flew over our country.
