They recovered and flew away

Anyone who paid even a little attention to the storks living near them could have noticed that they had disappeared. That is, they flew away to reach their wintering grounds.

As much as we wait for spring and the arrival of the storks, it is perhaps so difficult for us to acknowledge that the empty nests not only indicate that the nestlings have fledged, but also that perhaps our storks have already started their journey.

There is nothing special about this, it happens every year, but maybe it always makes our hearts sink. Also because it indicates that autumn is approaching, and we also worry about the fate of the birds.

Every year, the employees of the Hortobágy Bird Park are happy to release those storks who came to them due to injury or illness. After their strengthening and recovery, this is the best and happiest moment.

For three days, the birds that had already recovered and were classified as healthy were released at noon.

Now we just have to trust that they will arrive in Africa and we will see them again in the spring.
