The characteristic, emblematic bird of the Great Plain is the bustard, which is also the coat of arms of the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Association.
The hens are very careful. We were afraid of their eggs as well as their already hatched chicks. So do the bustards living in the Körös-Maros National Park. Not only do the laying hens protect their chicks, but there is also an instinctive need for “invisibility” in the chicks, as they are most safe when they are not noticed.
It is even harder for professionals to spot chicks and the bustard team only moves at certain times of the day.
It can be really lucky to be able to monitor the hen and her chicks for a few minutes. It is also difficult to notice and see them, let alone take photos. And now is the biggest opportunity.
