Like storks, swallows are very welcome every year. Leaving a nesting place also means autumn.
We’re also waiting for our favorite swallows home, but there’s a swallow we can expect. This swallow is bigger than the sickle swallow, but it is still in its name. The mountain sickle swallow shows itself so rarely in Hungary that they have been observed only 14 times since 1996. This meant that these swallows affected our country during their route, but they did not nest with us.
So far, because several mountain sickle swallows have been observed in Debrecen. At the time, it was thought that these were also transit specimens, and then the good news came from Hódmezővásárhely: the sickle swallows had nested. The nest was chosen as a 10-storey condominium and two couples also spent it, raising their chicks successfully.
