Migratory birds visit foraging areas, sometimes in large numbers. India's largest salt-water lake is one of them.
For bird lovers and nature photographers, Lake Sambhar offers a wide variety of attractions and photo themes. Flamingos dressed in pink are also keen to visit a lake in northwest India, which has now become a losing ground.
Now it is not because of photography that professionals visit the lake, but to collect the bodies of thousands of dead flamingos who are also being investigated for death.
With about five thousand dead flamingos, there were really only a few, maybe two dozen birds left. The live birds have been transported and are trying to keep them alive.
They are now beginning to find out what may have caused the death of so many birds at once. For the time being, they suspect a viral or bacterial infection, but the question remains unanswered.
