Tennis is an excellent sport and moves many. And the pros tournaments attract a large army to the field or in front of the television.
But the pigeons are also happy to visit human structures and have even adapted to humans, so they are happy to choose their nests in a place like a tennis court. Of course, this doesn’t prove to be a very good idea if tennis players, spectators and pigeons are present on the court at the same time. The days without competition are quiet, but other times life on the tracks is completely upset, disturbing the pigeons as well.
In the case of tennis courts in Wimbledon, the emphasis is on prevention and shells are used to this end. I mean, just one. In place of Hamish, who has already aged out of work, Rufus is a Harris hawk whose job is to drive the pigeons out of the vicinity of the track.
