In Romania, they saw something they had not seen in a very long time. There have been no pale vultures in this area since World War II.
The specimen that is now in a bird rescue center has just survived, as it was found in a very weakened condition. The young bird was captured and transported to the Lower Maros Floodplain Nature Park, where veterinarians took it in their hands and tried to save the bird.
The rotting vulture disappeared from Romania after World War II due to poisoning and hunting. A bird with long wingspan can travel long distances with its huge wings. That's probably how he got to Romania.
The vulture has not found any signs of external harm and fortunately he also has a very good appetite.
